Honest Eddy Takes New Hampshire Primary 2.5 miler

Greenfield's Ed Glidden and Antrim's Shauna Glidden brought home  the bacon Tuesday (like any good politician) evening in the  athletic vesion of the NH Primary. It was all part of the Summer  Sizzler's take on politics.Voter turnout was low due to the  sweltering weather conditons and hazardous heat index.

But Honest Eddie led the victory parade in 15:38 for the 2.5 mile  out-and-back -course, about a minute faster than 3rd party  maverick and 5x Sizzler king Mike Casner, Peterborough. Caz ran a  16:37.In third was Scott 'George' McGovern, in 16:46.Scott took  over the overall lead with that performance, wresting the blie  jersey from Troy French, who skipped the primary to campaign in  another state.

Meanwhile, Shauna Burt, Antrim, recorded her first-ever primary  win, as onlookers and family cheered her stellar 19:40 effort. She  has more delegates this point than any other woman , but is  cautioning supporters not to look beyond the next week and  other locations (like Nuby) which have yet to hold their primaries.

Runner-up for the damsels was 2007 laurel wreath holder Shannon  Glidden, Greenfield who turned in a 21:41 with 90% of all  precincts reporting in.  Then 'Scooter' Libby Twitchell, Peterborough superdelegate, claimed  third in 23:41.Hers was a surprising finish, and bodes well for  future races.

No one dropped out of the NH Primary Race at the Depot, reported  state Party Chairman Bob Fogg. Supervisor of the Checklist Ruth  Bergmann stated all votes were paper ballots, counted by hand ,  and that there was no evidence of shady back room deals, bribes,  hanging chads or the like in Sizzler Nation, unlike th US of A,  where it is routine and a matter of course for such  shameless improprieties to occur.

Among the luminaries to partake in the political parade were:  Nathan 'Hale 'Earley,  Selectman (Ind-Dublin) Sterling 'Honest Abe' Abram,  Newt 'Gingrich' Tollman,  'Scooter 'Libby Twitchell,  ' Jimmy 'Carter' Hunt,  Andrew 'Jackson' Hunt,  'Thomas' Jeff(erson) Richardson,  Bill 'Vote' Earley( and often),  Scott 'George' McGovern  Mike 'Huckabee' Casner  William 'Jefferson Clinton' Engle,  Kathy 'First Lady' Engle  Shannon ' Hillary' Glidden  Shauna (Aaron )Burr-t  'King' Edward Glidden  Andrew 'Barack' Briggs (& Stratton)

Thanks to Bob 'Ulysses' S Grant' Fogg and Ruth Bader Gins-bergman  for assisting at the polls.

Next week(Race # 4) is a duel theme. 'The Summer Sizzler Solstice  Super Splash & Dash' will take place at Lake Nubanusitt in  Hancock. That's a 6:30 pm start,Tuesday June 17th,at the Boat  Landing, off Rte 123(Hunt Pond Rd).Cost is 5.00.Distance is 5 miles.

The other theme? Well, we just had the primary..and due to low  voter turn-out we are holding another election(general), which  will be open to the public.

Ed and Shauna will face off against each other in a series of  televised ,national debates leading up to the Big Day where  all the pertinent issues will be discussed in what is certain to  be an animated, lively and(given the weather)heated exchange.

All Sizzler Nation citizens are invited and encouraged to  attend to vote their consciences in the general  election.Theme-related prizes, raffles, trivia, etc will all be  part of the mix.Bring a friend.

Call The Party Chairman at 525-9357 for more information.

Respectfully Submitted,

David Birse,Co-Chair
