Course: The course (new as of 2023) is a 5K. It will start and finish at Seven Saws Brewing Company and will include part of the traditional course. A water stop will be provided.

In Memory of Fred
Fred Warren (1924-2019) is, quite simply, a legend of the local running scene here in Central Mass. His 30 years as a teacher, cross country coach, and track coach at Wachusett Regional High School left a tremendous impact on hundreds of grateful students and athletes over those years. Subsequently, he was inducted into the Wachusett Athletic Hall of Fame and the Mass State Track Coaches Hall of Fame. He was also instrumental in organizing the Central Mass Track Officials Association, a member of the District “E” Track Committee, and in appreciation of his contributions to the sport, the District “E” Boys Spring Track Class Meet was renamed in his honor. The track at Wachusett is also now named for him. His legacy is truly all around us.
Fred was an outstanding athlete in his own right. At UCONN, he was four year varsity standout cross country runner and a very successful pole-vaulter. He took a brief absence from college during his freshman year to join the US Navy during WW-2 and served from 1943-1946. His passion for running continued throughout his life, and he completed several marathons, including Boston.
Also of note, Fred established the Wachusett Striders AAU running club, which eventually became the Central Mass Striders Running Club. We wouldn’t be here with Fred.
